This I believe: A mosaic family

When we diminish one, we are all diminished.
When we injure one, we are all injured.
When we exclude one, we all suffer.
When we celebrate one, all are celebrated.
When we welcome one, all are welcomed.
When we love one, we love all, and all are loved

This I believe.

I believe that everyone is my neighbour:
those who are close and are kin,
those who are nice and are kind,
those who like and do what I like;
and the many who aren’t and don’t,
even my enemies.

I believe that despite our differences,
whether gender, culture, or circumstance,
some things make us all the same,
all inhabitants of planet Earth,
all distantly, physiologically, related,
all dependent on our neighbours.

I see our human family as a rich mosaic,
diverse in shape, size, and colour,
vibrant in the patterns we form,
beautiful to behold in togetherness,
no one left out, destroyed, or discarded,
a sign and symbol of hope.

When we diminish one, we are all diminished.
When we injure one, we are all injured.
When we exclude one, we all suffer.
When we celebrate one, all are celebrated.
When we welcome one, all are welcomed.
When we love one, we love all, and all are loved.

This I believe.
